Happy Giveaway Day!

Thanks to all who entered!  The winner is posted here!

Welcome to all of you who are visiting from Sew, Mama, Sew!

In honour of Giveaway Day, I am giving away one Create-a-Creature, a child’s drawing brought to life!

If you are the winner, you will send me a drawing, and I will create a soft, cuddly creature that looks as close to the drawing as possible.

Your creature will be around 10″ tall, just over half the size of my full-size creatures, and made of soft polar fleece.

To enter, leave me a comment.  To keep things interesting, tell me about a favourite childhood memory, a favourite toy, or something fun you’ve done with your kids (or your friend’s kids, or your grandkids) lately.  If you like, you can check out my Facebook page or Etsy shop (but you certainly don’t have to!)

Giveaway will be open until midnight on Friday.  Winner will be chosen by random number generator and posted on Saturday.

Good luck!  And don’t forget to check out all of the other fantastic giveaways!

  1. What an awesome giveaway! My kid would love this. She got such a kick when I surprised her with an e-published a book she wrote. I uploaded her drawings and typed in her words, spelling mistakes and all. It was so fun and now she tells everyone about her “published” book. 🙂 Thank you for the giveaway!

  2. My memory to share is Wyoka….
amazing how the smallest thing can spark such a memory. Pastor Neil was telling me his daughter is going into Pathfinders this year and back to wyoka again – crazy! Then I thought of bike camp and the trip to Mildmay where I met Neil, then to when I was a camper on the Canoe camp, and then it circled back to all my camping buddies and camping days! Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hills, from the sky, all is well, safely rest, god is nigh.

  3. Favorite childhood memory is when my sister and i found a refrigerator box. It is much bigger in my memory. We dragged it blocks, to our house and after begging our mom we got to shove it into our bed room. That thing took us on so many adventures!!! I think it even saved us from monsters a few times!

  4. These are great! I have been teaching my 5 year old to sew and my 3 year old is starting to take an interest too! It is so much fun!

  5. Holy smokes this is an awesome idea!!! I am pregnant with my first child but my three year old nephew would go crazy for this gift! He is so imaginative and does funny stuff all of the time. He loves chasing our puppy around our yard and laughs so hard when she catches him, adorable.

  6. My favorite childhood memory is going to Puerto Rico ever summer with my family. My mother was born there and some of her family live there still. It is amazing and I hope I can bring my kids there to experience what I did.
Thanks for the chance for the monster creation!

  7. Oh my goodness this is AWESOME! I love everything about this giveaway. I have four kids ages 2-6 (crazy I know) and we love to play around on the floor giving tickles or “horsey” rides. We also like to color and recently started to ride bikes as a family on our trail, I pull the small two in my bike trailer. Thanks for the giveaway!!

  8. My kids love it when I make them things. I recently made my daughter a dress from her drawing of her dream dress. It was super fun to make her feel like a little designer. My son would love to create a creature to love, thanks for the giveaway 🙂

  9. how cool! we recently got a puppy, so our lives revolve around him right now. it’s so cool to see my youngest really take on responsibility and watch their friendship grow.

  10. i am in love with your creations! i’ve thought so far as to embroider my kids’ drawings onto fabric but this ads a whole new level of awesomeness. way to make children feel proud and seen. so beautiful!

hm… last weekend the husband, children and i decided to do only things we all actually felt like doing for a whole weekend! it was fantastic! we went for walks, went to the museum TWICE, ate good food, rode skateboards and scooters, crafted, read, watched movies together and just completely collectively ignored all responsibilities that weren’t truly important. i hope we can continue to provide our children with really relaxed time as they grow older as i fear the crazy hectic life around us all is going to drive all of human kind insane some time soon.

  11. OMGoodness!!!! Adorable! We visited Disney World two weeks ago. I will treasure the memories we made there, for the rest of my life. <3

  12. Oh, these are SO cool!

My favorite childhood toy was a stuffed lion named Rufus. He was a gift from my parents for my first Christmas, when I was just a month old. He had a pull string on his back and spoke and I called him Roo-Roo, because that’s all I could manage when I was little. I carried him with me *everywhere* as a child and a preteen. He stayed on my bed as teenager and on my dresser once I married. Just before my son was born, Roo got put into a storage box when we moved and we didn’t find him again until just before Christmas – our 38th together. My daughter, who was 18 months old at the time, fell head over heels for him. And he still speaks, albeit oddly these days. 🙂

  13. Today my 3 & 4 year old daughters wanted to do something fun for my hubby when he came home. So, we drew out elaborate clues (well, as elaborate as preschoolers can come up with) and led him on a scavenger hunt to find us when he got home from work. He played along soooo well — even pretending that he couldn’t find us or hear us from our way-too-obvious hiding spot. I love doing different fun & creative things with my girls! And, you should see their drawings! 🙂

Thanks for the chance to enter!

  14. I remember carrying around these four stuffed animals around like they were my babies. Everywhere I went, they went as well – even to the hospital when I got sick!

  15. Oh, wow! These creatures are so fun! One of my favorite toys was my Barbies, as was common when I was little, but instead of spending my time making them talk to eachother and go to the mall and such, I would spend HOURS creating entire cities for them with houses, stores, etc. I loved getting it all set up and then I would just leave it like that for days! LOL! jinglesells at gmail dot com

  16. oh my gosh what an imagination you have & totally brilliant. my only problem would be to limit it to one drawing!! i’m sure if i won this fabulous giveaway, i would have to order some more to keep every child happy. good luck to all who participate & thankyou for the opportunity. cheers

  17. Your stuffies are so neat, what a treasure!

My favourite toy growing up was a beautiful dollhouse that my great aunt made for me (complete with shag rug and a roof top terrace). So many hours (years!) I spent playing with that house!

  18. Holy cow these are AWESOME! What a unique idea!
My favorite childhood memory is going to the library and getting a huge stack of books and sitting on the couch for hours with my dad and looking through them. Books about dinosaurs, cars…haha, and the planets were some of our favorites.
Also…I remember many times sitting at the kitchen table with my coloring books and crayons and coloring with my mom.
Thanks for the chance to win!

  19. A fun thing I did with my kids and husband lately was to take the kids kayaking for the first time. We paddled across a little lake and ate a picnic on a sandbar. Great time!

  20. My favorite toy as a child was this stuffed tiger I won at an amusement park when I was 6 years old. I didn’t like the fact it had no stripes -not sure what kind of animal it actually was- so I took a permanent marker to him and drew stripes. I had him until I was 13 years old; we had end of the year testing and we were allowed to bring stuffed animals to school. He ended up getting stolen out of my locker, never to be seen again.

Great, now I’m all sad thinking about it. Hopefully, if I win, there will be a lot of cherished memories for my children with their toy!

  21. This is such an awesome giveaway! My kids are a little too young (my oldest only makes lines so far), but I bet my niece would be over the moon for this!

My father-in-law bought a front-mounted kiddie seat for his bicycle, and both of my sons loved it so much that they got upset when they had to get off for the other one’s turn. We bought another seat and have been going out on family bike rides! Thanks for the chance to win!

  22. I just gave my kids a cosmic bath last night! You fill the tub up and stick about 8 glow sticks in there! So much fun!

  23. What an amazing giveaway.
I think I have a perfect drawing of some monsters my husband did as a child and made into a book. His mom even made him a art case with some of the pictures on it. It would be great to give to one of our kids.

As for my favourite childhood memory…really there are soo many of just the regular stuff playing with the animals, playing baseball or soccer with my sibling or building forts in the bush!

  24. This is a really fun give-away – I have a much younger half-brother who will be 5 this fall and this would be a perfect present for him!

My favorite toy when I was a baby was a handed down stuffed panda bear. I still have him, and he is as ragged and well loved (and patched up) as any stuffed animal can get without completely falling to pieces!

  25. How fun!!! I have an almost 3-year-old that would LOVE this!! I am a teacher and in my child development class we run a preschool for 6 weeks. Once all 20 of my high school students and all 20 of my 3-5 year olds finger painted. It was a crazy mess and everyone(and my room) were covered in finger paint in the end!

  26. Wow! You do love a challenge don’t you? haha What a terrific gift idea!

My most memorable story is that I just went on my very first “Grandma” outing with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren ages 2 and 5. We went to Jekyll Island, GA and then to the water park there. Lots of fun but Grandma was in bed for a week after we made it home 🙂

  27. What great toys you make, and such a great giveaway! Recent fun I have had with my little guy (19 mo) is naked painting outside – -he painted our sliding glass door, then washed it all off. So much fun.

  28. we’ve been dumping out the dress up box, inviting the neighbor boys over, and dressing up and walking around the neighborhood. and gardening and reading in the hammock!

  29. one of my favorite childhood memories is when my gramma would pick us up and take us out for ice cream. my mom was a young one (16 when i was born), so we didn’t get a whole lot of spoiling, so the attention (and delicious ice cream) we received every few weeks or so by my gramma was welcomed. i grew very close to my grandmother, but she died unexpectedly when i was in college. my daughter is named after her.

we just started our “summer to do list” in my house, so lots of fun summer memories are about to occur. 🙂

i’m really excited about this giveaway. it’s something i’ve wanted to try to do for a long time. my fingers are crossed. thanks so much!!

  30. Oh I love your work! Those Creatures are amazing! I thin one of my most favorite memories with my kids was a road trip to a family farm in Alberta where they spent the whole time running between a mountain of dirt and the swimming pool. They had so much fun!

  31. these are so creative!
a favorite toy of mine was a dollhouse my parents made for me with wood, carpet, wallpaper, etc, left over from other projects.

  32. These are so awesome Andi. I still have my raggedy ann and raggedy andy dolls from when I was a kid. I also still have a stuffed wind up lamb that played lullaby. (Caden thought it was cool that it was mom’s!)

  33. We’ve started taking our kids camping….I actually loved this as a kid, but hated it in my 20’s and 30’s. But my husband bought a pop-up camper and it turns out that for me here in Georgia, having A/C and a mattress makes all the difference, lol

  34. opps! I’d delete the other comment if I could!
I forgot to add my memory!!
Winning my fav childhood toy (that I still have) and much loved and worn “pink panther” but mine was black. at the local fair, my sister even wrote me a song about him 🙂
    my original comment below:

so great! what a nice giveaway, thanks!

I’m taking part too – it’s my first time playing along…so much fun!
C’mon over and join the party!

  35. Would you believe my first childhood memory is throwing up in the car?? We used to live in a valley & the trip up was a very windy road and always at the same point in time I’d throw up… I remember saying “Mummy” then vomit then Mum reaching around with the purple face washer!

  36. I love just sitting with my kids and laughing. They are funny people if I just stop long enough to listen and really interact with them!! 🙂

  37. I actually JUST did this exact thing with my best friend’s daughter tonight!!! She loves monsters, drew one for her mom as a belated mother’s day gift, and we made it! She’d love to have one of your awesomely amazing ones!! Thanks for the giveaway!

  38. Adorable! My girls LOVE to draw so that happens a lot around our house, along with tea parties and puppet shows 🙂

  39. That is so great! One of my favorite memories as a youngster was getting to play in the castle just down the street from us or getting to use my dad’s old wood scraps to make mazes in the backyard.

  40. We just took my 4 year old camping for the first time-he loved it! He ran around the woods and then we had dinner over the fire. He cried on the way home because he wanted to go back.
