I am so excited about giveaway day! For those of you visiting for the first time – welcome to my little corner of the world. One of the things I love about sewing is being able to make old things new again, bringing new life to an item that might otherwise be thrown away. I had a lot of fun making this bag out of a favourite (but worn out) pair of AE corduroys.
(Sorry, but the brown boots are not included in the giveaway!)
This is a mini-messenger bag with Velcro closure (cleverly disguised with a vintage button) and a long strap that can be worn over the shoulder or across the chest.
A nice back pocket for a cell-phone, iPod or whatever else you like…
And some nice striped lining inside.
So…how can you win this one-of-a-kind creation? Simply leave a comment below between now and December 6. In keeping with the theme of the bag, how about you tell me one of your favourite ways to re-use or recycle OR about that item in your closet that you can’t wear anymore but can’t bear to give away. The winner will be chosen by a random number generator and announced on December 7th. Anyone is welcome to participate – this bag is ready for travel! Good luck! And don’t forget to check out all the other great giveaways today!

I’d like to deconstruct my sister’s kebaya (indonesian traditional dress) and make it into my children’s cloting
i made a purse in high school out of a pair of jeans that didn’t fit anymore using the pockets and side seams as straps and that bag totally reminds me of that!
That is a beauitful bag! My favorite was to re-use and recycle is to re-gift the things that distant family members give me that aren’t quite my style. Thanks for the giveaway!
Awesome giveaway!
Nice bag! My favorite way to refashion is to, um…make handbags! I always need another handbag!:) Thanks for the giveaway!
That is a really nice bag! What a great way to recycle! The only thing that I have ever recycled has been to cut up jeans into a denim rag quilt. And one day I would like to make a t-shirt quilt, using my hubbys old t-shirts that he can’t seem to get rid of!
This is really cool – thanks for participating! Sadly, I’ve got a lame response, because I’m so new to sewing and quilting… I haven’t yet been bold enough to tear into anything beloved. I suspect, though, bags, pillow shams and so forth will be a frequent method. Thanks again!
I love to create new things from old! I often recycle things into scrapbook embellishments!
Very cute bag! Hope to win!

Great refashion! I am always up for a good refashion. I constantly stash things away to find a good use for them later on. Sometimes it’s stuff for my kids but mostly it’s fun things for myself.
This bag is AWESOME! I would love it! I’m a mom of 5 and this would last forever! I’m sure it’s even washable! Great for those times when “accidents” happen!
I recycle by using my local freecycle.org. I give away my trash to someone else who will treasure it and I get treasures for free too! It’s a great way to share what your done with!
Great little bag. I am sure one of my daughters would find it very useful. Greetings from Calgary!
Great bag! I like to use second-hand clothes to make things for my 2 year old. I’ve used men’s shirts for dresses, sweaters for the yarn, and lots of other stuff – fun!
What a great bag! I use fabric totes for groceries, fabric napkins and repurpose fabric into new clothes for my kiddos. Thanks for the giveaway. alusco(at)centurytel(dot)net
Love your purse-love the pocket!
I recycle by taking our paper to school everyday for teachers to read and donating all our magazines to the hospital so folks have something to keep them company and take their minds off of stress.
Love this bag. I am so into reusing my daughter’s old clothes to make outfits for her American Girl doll just now. I have her last pair of jeans put by waiting to turn into a sketch book holder and I’m really enjoying cutting up and felting anything I can and turning the resulting wool felt into bags and owls and brooches. I’ve made a whole kennel of Scottie dogs recently from woolen remnants bought from the charity shops locally (one of whom is up for giveaway at my blog today!) Bx
I always recycle my gift wrapping (bags, paper if I can).
Such a pretty bag! I love bags and could have 100 and use them all!!
This is really beautiful! I love that is it up-cycled too

Great Bag! Would love to win this one!

I have a very cute striped shirt (I love ALL things stripes!) that just doesn’t fit anymore after having baby#3. But I refuse to throw it out hoping to either be able to fit back in it one day or to make something wonderful from it (or rather have my crafty sister make something since I am not talented in that regard!). Thanks for the giveaway! sales4mp@gmail.com
I have tend to refashion things I can’t wear anymore into clothes for my daughter – skirts, pjs etc. Thanks for the opportunity!
hi there! what a wonderful bag! thanks for the opportunity of winning it!
i’m all for recycling and re-using stuff. I give old clothes for people who need them, lots of times I give away presents that I receive when I know someone else will enjoy them more than me, I use old recipients to stuff things. But I pay special attention to waste, since I was a child I implemented the habit of separating different types of garbage (paper, glass, plastics, batteries, etc) and each are kept in a different bin and then the truck comes to collect it. it’s amazing the amount of garbage we make and most of it can be recycled into real fun stuff like teddybears and whatnots…
Love the bag, my friend used to recycle blue jeans into the neatest jackets complete with a sprinkle of rinestones and this was many years ago.
I’m afraid I’m not very creative when it comes to recycling…I do like to reuse my son’s baby wipes containers. They hold tons of little objects!
Great job making this bag! I’m impressed
I’ve seen people reuse old t-shirts to make bed comforters, and I thought that was a great idea, since the shirts couldn’t all be worn, but they still had special memories associated with them.
Your purse is super cute; you did a great job making it! Would love to win it!
Thanks for the chance to win such a great giveaway!
your bag is adorable! I love making tshirt quilts, that’s my reuse recycle!

My favorite way to reuse so far has been to take that comfy pair of jeans and transfrom it into a great denim skirt… they look so cute!

I love reusing. I just used an old, too small linen shirt and created about 4 new things from it. I was so proud of myself. I have about 4 pairs of too small jeans in my closet that I won’t get rid of because I want to reuse them. Maybe I could make a cute bag like this. Thanks for the giveaway.
I can’t get rid of old jeans. Even if they don’t fit anymore, I assume I will have some need for them in the future. Or I think I will someday be that size again. Thanks for the chance to win.
I have just remade an XXXL mens tshirt into a tshirt for myself. I loved the colour so I recut it with my favourite Jalie pattern to make a sweetheart t shirt. No one would know that it started life as a mens tshirt
I love to recycle old pants into quilts, totes, and baby pants. (T-shirts also work great for baby pants.) I love your cute bag, and how you incorporate the great seams and pockets from the pants.
Thanks!
Ah. I’ve made plushie quilts out of old clothes before. Hehe…that was fun. But too big now.
Nice giveaway!
I have loads of clothes that I can’t wear but can’t afford to let go off. Perhaps one day they will come back into fashion. Or, I can let it become vintage and give it to the kids!
Very nice bag. I like to recycle my Christmas cards. I cut out cool pictures and then use them to make my own cards sometimes.
We love ragged jean quilts. We use a lot of jeans that way.
I try to recycle old cards and reuse them again. Thanks for the opportunity.
I love to recycle old pillowcases and bed sheets by turning them into dress up clothes for my children. There’s nothing more simple to make than a pillowcase dress or rubber waisted skirt!

Very cute. I’ve made purses for my daughters out of jeans. The messenger style is different and very nicely done.
I have a white dress I wore at my engagement party that will realisticly never done my body again, yet I will not even consider letting it go. It is so different from anything else I have ever enjoyed wearing. Its made of white eyelet material, empire waist, very virginal. I can usually be found in black, unless I am in a lighter mood and I break out my grey.

I’ve saved all our jeans to make a faux cathedral windows quilt for one of my daughters….it isn’t finished yet, but I thought to give it to her as a picnic blanket…it is so sturdy!
Very nice bag!
I give away all our clothes that are still in good condition but just don’t fit/are terribly out of style. But anything with holes or stains gets cut up for various things: rag rugs, pot holders, quilts, etc.
In junior high school my mom took an old pair of my jeans, cut one leg off then sewed pockets all over it. I hung it in my locker and used the pockets to store things in. That was fun!
I love reusing much loved jeans and tshirts to make quilts, tote bags, and anything else I can think of! Thanks for posting.
I don’t have a standard way to recycle. Right now I’m been working on my daughter’s old futon cover. It got ripped by the dog but otherwaise stain free. So far I’ve made a bag for a pal, pencil roll for my artist daughter, and huge storage cube with handles for the DVDs from it.
I love the Wardrobe Refashion blog–gives me inspiration and lately I’ve been buying all our clothes at thrift stores and consignment shops.
my last upcycled item was a pair of baby slippers out of denim from an old pair of jeans. i’ve also made project bags out of bandanas and t-shirts.
